Private University Students to Hit the Streets Nationwide

Students from various private universities across Bangladesh have called for nationwide protests against extortion and terrorism. The demonstrations are set to begin on Saturday, 12 July, in the capital city of Dhaka, as well as in Sylhet and Chattogram.
The Private University Students Alliance of Bangladesh (PUSAB) announced the protests through a post on their Facebook page on Saturday morning. According to the post, the protests in Dhaka will take place at Rampura Bridge, Bashundhara Gate, Uttara BNS, Khagan in Ashulia, areas in front of BRAC University, North South University, IUB, Daffodil University, Mirpur-10, Northern University, Southeast University, and Uttara University. Outside the capital, students will gather at Sylhet’s Central Shaheed Minar at 6:00 PM and Chittagong’s New Market intersection at 3:00 PM.
The organizers stated that the protests aim to condemn recent incidents of terrors, threats, and extortion in and around educational institutions.
