NSU Signs MoU with Grameen HealthTech to Provide 24/7 Tele-Mental Health Support
North South University (NSU) and Grameen HealthTech Ltd. (GHL) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday to provide round-the-clock tele-mental health services. The partnership aims to ensure uninterrupted and accessible psychological support for NSU students, faculty members, and staff.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at the university campus. Top administrators from both institutions attended the event to mark the collaboration.
During the ceremony, NSU Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and GHL Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui highlighted the growing importance of mental healthcare within academic institutions. They emphasized the urgent need to address the social stigma and limited accessibility that currently surround mental health services across Bangladesh.
The speakers noted that this digital initiative will contribute significantly to national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on health, well-being, and social stability. They also underscored the role of digital innovation in strengthening healthcare delivery systems and reducing the existing treatment gap.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment between NSU and GHL to advance technology-driven mental health solutions. Representatives stated that the initiative will help foster a more supportive and inclusive academic environment for the university community.
The NSU delegation included key academic leaders such as School of Health and Life Sciences Dean Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences Dean Professor Shazzad Hossain, and Director of Research Dr. Norman Swazo.
Also present from NSU were Center for Social Impact and Sustainability (CSIS) Director Professor Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Proctor Professor Dr. Abdul Khaleque, Registrar Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen, Legal Affairs Director Ahmed Iqbal Parvez, CSIS Coordinator Shabnin Rahman Shorna, and Counseling & Wellbeing Center Assistant Director Md. Shaphawat Hossain.
The GHL delegation featured prominent executive officials alongside their CEO, including Chief Technology Officer & Chief Business Officer Mohammad Solaimun Rasel, Chief Compliance & People Officer Barrister Ahmed Raquib Malik, International Business Lead Dr. Fahreen Hannan, and Key Account Manager Ahmed Sabbir.
