The Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) and the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening academic research capabilities and streamlining access to high-impact e-journal resources for students, faculty members, and researchers.

The formal agreement, signed on May 19, 2026, at the UITS conference room, establishes a collaborative institutional framework. Under this partnership, BdREN will provide comprehensive support to UITS in gaining seamless access to globally renowned digital libraries, including JSTOR, by coordinating subscription processes, licensing frameworks, and backend technical facilitation. The initiative is designed to significantly enhance the university's research output and promote widespread knowledge dissemination.

According to the operational terms of the MoU, BdREN will act as the primary facilitator to negotiate and enable access to digital scholarly resources, while UITS will oversee the proper utilization and strict compliance with global licensing agreements within its campus network. The partnership reflects a shared strategic commitment to advancing higher education standards and academic research infrastructure in Bangladesh.

The signing ceremony was attended by top administrative officials from both organizations. Representing UITS were the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Treasurer. BdREN was represented by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Tawrit, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed, and Assistant Manager Ahmed Al Hossain.

This collaboration marks another significant milestone in BdREN’s ongoing national mission to connect higher educational and research institutions across the country with world-class digital resources and robust internet infrastructure.
