National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s revolutionary songs have long served as a source of inspiration during movements and struggles across Bangladesh. In recognition of his enduring influence, the Kazi Nazrul Institute is set to release a special album featuring 10 of his most stirring compositions, reimagined by the country’s top bands. To mark the album’s launch, a large-scale concert will be held on May 30 at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.

Ten prominent bands—Warfaze, Souls, Dalchhut, Ark, Shironamhin, Different Touch, MNB, Rebel, Black, and F Minor—will perform at the concert, presenting tracks from the album along with other iconic motivational songs by Nazrul. The event will also feature poetry recitations and various cultural segments.

Over the past several months, the institute collaborated with all the major bands to select and record 10 powerful songs by Nazrul. The selected tracks include:

  • Karar Oi Louho-Kopat
  • Ei Shikol Pora Chhol
  • Tora Shob Joyodhoni Kor
  • Jago Onoshon-Bondi
  • Durgom Giri Kantar Moru
  • O Bhai Khati Shonar Cheye Khati
  • Mora Jhonjar Moto Uddam
  • Bajichhe Damama Bandh Re Amama
  • Pordeshi Megh
  • Joy Hok Joy Hok

The lyrics, melody, and musical notations are being strictly followed to preserve the authenticity of Nazrul’s work. The project is being mentored by Nazrul Sangeet expert Yakub Ali Khan to ensure musical integrity.

The album will be released during the concert, which will be inaugurated by cultural affairs adviser and acclaimed filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. The event begins at 5 PM and is open to the public free of charge.

All tracks from the album will be made available on the institute’s official website and social media platforms.
