Faridpur Medical College Forms Probe Committee for Body Found Under Lift

Faridpur Medical College Hospital has formed a five-member committee to investigate the discovery of an unidentified man’s body in a basement cabin beneath lift number 2 in the hospital’s B-block on Thursday night, 17 July. The body was recovered by police on Friday morning, 18 July, for autopsy.

Hospital Director Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir announced the committee in a notification on Friday. Chaired by Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman Howlader (Associate Professor, Medicine), with Dr. Faruk Ahmed (Senior Consultant, Cardiology) as member secretary, the committee includes Dr. Badruzzaman Khan (Senior Consultant, Medicine), Dr. Sujit Kumar Biswas (Resident Surgeon, Surgery), and the Faridpur Civil Surgeon or their representative. The committee must submit its report within seven working days.

The body was spotted around 12:45 AM on Thursday by two hospital staff, who informed security. Police were notified, and the body, estimated to be of a 40–45-year-old man, was recovered after a search. A mobile phone found with the body indicated it may belong to Raju, son of Shaheed Sheikh from Boalmari, Faridpur. Police have prepared a case report and initiated a postmortem.

Dr. Humayun informed the Directorate General of Health Services, Faridpur Medical College Principal, District Administration, Police Superintendent, Public Works Department, and Civil Surgeon. The hospital has formally requested Faridpur Kotwali Police to take further action.
