Alim Arabic Textbook Set for Overhaul After 9 Years: Madrasa Board Forms 5-Member Panel

After a long nine years, the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has decided to revise and update the Arabic First Paper for Alim class in Alia Madrasas. To this end, a five-member editorial and coordination panel has been formed. This was announced in an office order on Monday (29 September).
The office order, signed by Madrasa Education Board Registrar Prof Saleh Ahmad, states that the Alim class Arabic First Paper textbook Al-Lughatul Arabiyatul Ittesaliyah was last revised in 2016. Due to the prolonged absence of any revision, much of the book's information has become outdated.
Moreover, following the July revolution and the change of guard on 5 August, there is a need to update the textbook's content to align with the emerging aspirations, values and national goals. All things considered, it has been deemed urgent to revise and edit the textbook. In this context, an editorial and coordination panel comprising experts has been formed for the necessary revision and editing of the Alim class Arabic First Paper textbook ‘Al-Lughatul Arabiyatul Ittesaliyah’.
The members of the editorial and coordination panel are: Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman from the Arabic Department of Dhaka University; Prof Mahmudul Haque, principal of Bangladesh Madrasa Teachers' Training Institute; Dr Mohammad Salman, assistant professor (Arabic) at Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa; Prof FM Shakirullah (Publication Controller) from Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board; and Dr Mohammad Hedayet Ullah (Curriculum Specialist).
The office order requests the editorial and coordination panel to complete the necessary revision and editing of the textbook by 28 October and submit it to the board.
