45th BCS: PSC fails to find suitable candidates for 502 posts
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended only 1,807 candidates for the 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, leaving 502 advertised cadre posts vacant due to lack of qualified applicants.
The final result, published on the PSC website late Wednesday night (26 November), was originally advertised for 2,309 posts.
PSC Public Relations Officer S M Matiur Rahman said the highest number of unfilled posts were in technical and professional cadres. Notably, 440 posts in Family Planning cadre remain vacant, with only one or two suitable candidates found.
“These cadres usually have vacancies, but this time the number is significantly higher,” he added.
Key timeline of 45th BCS:
- Circular published: 30 November 2022
- Preliminary exam result: 6 June 2023 (12,789 passed)
- Written exam result: 18 June 2025 (6,558 passed)
- Final recommendation: 26 November 2025 (1,807 recommended)
Out of 346,000 applicants, 268,119 appeared for the preliminary exam, with an attendance rate of 77.24 per cent.
The large number of vacant technical posts highlights ongoing challenges in attracting qualified candidates to specialised cadres.
