Candidates for the ninth Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) examination have given the authorities a one-week deadline to publish the examination notice, while also demanding that teacher registration examinations for school and college levels be held separately in the future.

The demands were raised at a human chain organised by the platform ‘9th Teacher Registration Candidates Bangladesh’ in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday (October 11).

Speakers said the failure to publish a notice for a new teacher registration examination for nearly three years had left a large number of educated unemployed people and jobseekers in uncertainty. They said irregular examinations were wasting candidates’ valuable time and increasing their age, narrowing the window for many to enter the job market.

They also said the prolonged suspension of teacher registration examinations was preventing educational institutions from recruiting qualified teachers, affecting both jobseekers and the country’s education system.

One candidate said the pandemic and other challenges had already caused prolonged setbacks for applicants, while repeated crises and delays in holding the registration examination had wasted valuable time and limited employment opportunities as candidates grew older.

“This loss cannot be ignored under any circumstances. We want compensation for the time and opportunities we have lost,” the candidate said.

The candidate called on the authorities to publish the notice for the ninth teacher registration examination without further delay and complete the subsequent procedures to help candidates recover from the setbacks.

Speakers demanded that the notice for the 19th/ninth teacher registration examination be published within October, citing the interests of both aspiring teachers and the country's education system. They also urged the relevant authorities to expedite the subsequent stages of the examination process.

At Sunday's programme, the candidates reiterated their demand for the notice to be published within one week and called for effective measures to advance the recruitment process within the stipulated timeframe.

They also demanded that teacher registration examinations for school-level and college-level posts be conducted separately in the future.
