Elderly Man Dies After Falling in Crowd During Khaleda Zia’s Janaza
An elderly man named Manik died after falling amid the massive crowd gathered for the funeral prayer (janaza) of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (31 December) afternoon on the western side of Manik Mia Avenue in the capital, just before the janaza began.
Eyewitnesses said a huge number of people had already gathered before the prayer started. At one point, the crowd pressure increased, causing pushing and shoving. During this, Manik fell to the ground and became unwell.
People nearby tried to rescue him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he passed away on the way, according to concerned sources.
His home is in Bhola district.
