A total of 293 educational institutions across Bangladesh have recorded no successful candidates in the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, an increase of 91 from the previous year.

The results, published on Saturday (October 31), show an overall pass rate of 52.12%, the lowest in the past 10 years. A total of 646,685 students passed the examinations, while 40,084 secured GPA-5.

Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Mahdi Amin announced the results at the Secretariat on Saturday.

According to the results, 202 institutions had recorded zero passers in 2025. The number increased to 293 this year, marking a rise of 91 institutions.

The number of institutions where all candidates passed also declined significantly. This year, 139 institutions recorded a 100% pass rate, compared with 345 in 2025, representing a decrease of 206 institutions.

The decline in institutional performance comes alongside a substantial fall in the number of GPA-5 achievers. Only 40,084 students secured the highest grade this year, while 646,685 passed the examinations overall.

A total of 1,270,583 students from 9,439 educational institutions appeared in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards.
