Model and actress Snigdha Chowdhury has filed a police case alleging she was lured to a hospital under false pretenses and subjected to severe physical assault in a case of mistaken identity.

The formal complaint was lodged with Khilkhet Police Station in Dhaka on Sunday night (July 26).

According to the case statement, the actress was invited to a hospital under the guise of signing a commercial advertising contract. Upon her arrival, the chairman of Ashiyan Group allegedly mistook her for a woman named Jeba Takiya, who had reportedly defrauded him and embezzled funds.

Snigdha alleged that despite her protests, she was tied up, physically assaulted, strangled, dragged by her hair, and repeatedly beaten, leaving visible injuries across her body. She further stated that another individual present at the scene, identified as Emon, encouraged her to falsely confess to being the accused woman rather than intervening to halt the torture.

The statement noted that Snigdha initially hesitated to take legal action due to fear of social stigma and potential impact on her personal and professional life, before ultimately deciding to seek justice.

Khilkhet Police confirmed that the complaint has been officially registered and an investigation into the incident is underway. As of the filing of this report, the accused individuals have not issued any public statement regarding the allegations.

Snigdha Chowdhury began her career in the entertainment industry as a model in 2018 and recently made her silver-screen debut in the feature film Pressure Cooker.
