Actress Murder Alleged After Being Thrown from Hospital Building; Husband Arrested
A tragic incident unfolded in the capital’s Dhanmondi area as film and television actress Asma Zhilik (35) died after falling from the 8th floor of the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital. The incident occurred yesterday, Friday (June 12), during the afternoon.
Following the death, the family of the deceased launched formal allegations of deliberate murder against her husband, leading to his swift arrest by the Dhanmondi Thana Police. Zhilik was a known face in the local entertainment fraternity, having worked across television dramas and mainstream cinema, including a notable role alongside superstar Shakib Khan in the film Rangbaz.
Family Claims Planned Murder Following Verbal Dispute
According to statements provided by the victim's family, Zhilik and her husband, identified as Saifullah, had visited the medical facility on Friday afternoon for regular treatment. While inside the premises, a severe argument reportedly broke out between the couple over an undisclosed issue.
The victim’s brother, Mozammel Haque, detailed the incident to media outlets today, Saturday:
"My sister Asma Zhilik and her husband Saifullah went to Bangladesh Medical for treatment. An argument erupted between them. At one point, in a fit of rage, Saifullah pushed Asma off the 8th floor of the building. She died instantly upon impact." — Mozammel Haque, Brother of the Deceased
The actress's sister, Reshmi Akter Lopa, also shared an emotional post on Facebook confirming that she had been on a video call with Zhilik just moments before the tragedy, during which everything appeared normal. She alleged that her brother-in-law threw her sister off the building at approximately 1:30 PM.
Police Await Autopsy Report Amid Conflicting Leads
Confirming the arrest and ongoing legal proceedings, Dhanmondi Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful stated that law enforcement authorities are treating the case with utmost priority. Following a formal complaint lodged by the bereaved family, police registered a murder case and took Saifullah into custody. He has since been forwarded to court and sent to jail.
However, the OC noted that preliminary findings require deeper forensic validation. According to the initial inquest report managed by the responding officers, no conclusive physical evidence was immediately found at the scene to definitively prove she was forcefully thrown.
The police administration stated that the body has already undergone a complete post-mortem examination at the morgue, and the absolute reality surrounding the actress's death will be unearthed once the final autopsy report is delivered to investigators.
