Online applications for graduation stipends open today: Check guidelines
The government has officially launched the online application process for the stipend program under the Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust, aimed at supporting meritorious students from financially disadvantaged families pursuing graduation (pass) and equivalent courses. Applications have opened today, May 17, and will remain accessible until June 14. Formal directives outlining the operational framework have been dispatched to all relevant university authorities.
The notification, issued under the signature of Smriti Karmakar, Managing Director (Additional Secretary) of the Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust on May 14, has also been integrated into the official portal of the National University. Under this welfare initiative, eligible and financially insolvent students enrolled in affiliated colleges and institutions under Dhaka University, National University, and Islamic Arabic University are entitled to apply.
Per the official communication from the National University, first-year students of the 2023-24 academic session pursuing graduation (pass) or equivalent degrees will be provided with stipends, tuition fees, and supplementary educational allowances for the 2025-26 fiscal year in 2026.
The application window is scheduled to run from 9:00 AM on May 17, 2026, until 11:59 PM on June 14, 2026. Aspiring applicants must access the designated web portal to fill out and submit the prescribed digital form. Following the student-level submissions, the heads of the respective educational institutions are required to authenticate student attendance, upload institutional selection committee resolutions into the software, and forward the verified applications.
This institutional endorsement portal will remain active from 9:00 AM on June 15 until 11:59 PM on June 21. Detailed structural guidelines are available on pmeat.gov.bd and the notice board of the e-Stipend Management System. Given that the entire workflow is fully digital, no physical hard copies need to be submitted to the trust.
To qualify for the financial assistance, applicants must fulfill specific institutional and financial criteria. Candidates must be enrolled as regular students in an eligible degree (pass), Fazil, or graduation equivalent program, maintaining a minimum classroom attendance of 75 percent, which can be evaluated based on compulsory subjects like Bangla or English. Financially, the total annual income of the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must not exceed 100,000 BDT.
Furthermore, if the guardian resides within a city corporation area, their total land ownership must be less than 0.05 decimals, while for residents of other areas, the maximum permissible land ownership is capped at 0.75 decimals.
