DU Students to Get One-Month Vacation
The government has declared a public holiday from May 25 to May 31 on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. However, offices will remain open on May 23 (Saturday) and May 24 (Sunday). This decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on Thursday night (May 7), according to a press release from the Cabinet Division.
In alignment with the government's decision, the Dhaka University (DU) authorities have extended their previously announced holiday by one day. A notification signed by the Acting Registrar of the university, Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed, was issued today, Thursday (May 14). This extension applies to the university’s teachers, officers, and employees.
The notification stated that in coordination with the government-declared holidays for Eid-ul-Adha, the university’s office holiday, previously scheduled for May 24–30, has now been extended to include May 31.
Meanwhile, according to the university's academic calendar, students are set to enjoy a month-long vacation. This break incorporates both the Eid-ul-Adha holidays and the summer vacation.
The student holidays are scheduled to begin on May 21 and will continue until June 21. Academic activities for university students are expected to resume on June 22 following the conclusion of the break.
