Dhaka University Announces 2026–27 Undergraduate Admission Test Schedule and Eligibility Criteria

Dhaka University (DU) has officially released the complete schedule, mark distribution framework, and revised eligibility requirements for its undergraduate admission tests for the 2026–27 academic session. The online application portal is scheduled to open on November 11 at 12:00 PM and will accept submissions until November 25 at 11:59 PM.

The decisions were finalized during a meeting of the General Admission Committee held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium on Sunday (August 2). Under the updated guidelines, admission assessments will be conducted across five distinct units: the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit; Science Unit; Business Studies Unit; Fine Arts Unit; and IBA Unit.

Examination Schedule and Divisional Centers

The admission examination cycle will commence on December 5 with the IBA Unit exam, scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Tests for the remaining four units will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on their respective dates. The Science Unit exam is slated for December 12, followed by the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit on December 19, the Fine Arts Unit (General Knowledge and Drawing) on December 22, and the Business Studies Unit on December 26.

To reduce travel hassles for applicants, tests for the Science, Arts, and Business Studies units will take place simultaneously in eight divisional centers, including Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, and DU's main campus in Dhaka. Examinations for the Fine Arts and IBA units will be conducted exclusively on the main university campus.

Mark Distribution and Evaluation Framework

Candidates will be evaluated on a total scale of 120 marks, where 100 marks are allocated to the admission test and 20 marks are derived from the applicant's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent results. For the Science, Arts, and Business Studies units, tests will consist of 60 marks in multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and 40 marks in written sections, with 45 minutes allotted for each segment.

The Fine Arts assessment will comprise 40 MCQ marks (30 minutes) and 60 drawing marks (60 minutes). The IBA exam will feature 70 MCQ marks (90 minutes) and 30 descriptive marks (30 minutes). Additionally, the committee decided to formulate a separate question paper for English Medium candidates applying under the Science Unit in alignment with their curriculum. The university administration confirmed that classes for the 2026–27 undergraduate session will formally begin on March 28, 2027.

Minimum Academic Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply, candidates must have passed their SSC or equivalent examinations between 2021 and 2024, and their HSC or equivalent examinations in 2026. Applicants targeting the Science Unit require a combined GPA of at least 8.0 across both public examinations, with a minimum individual GPA of 3.5. Humanities and Business stream students switching to the Science Unit must hold a combined GPA of 7.5 with a minimum individual GPA of 3.0.

For the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit as well as the Business Studies Unit, general candidates require a minimum combined GPA of 7.5 with an individual GPA threshold of 3.0. Science candidates seeking admission into these two units must maintain a minimum combined GPA of 8.0 and an individual GPA of 3.5. Applicants for the Fine Arts Unit must secure a combined GPA of at least 6.5, with a minimum individual GPA of 3.0 in both examinations.
