Dhaka University (DU) has finalized specific cross-unit application guidelines and minimum GPA criteria for students seeking to switch academic disciplines in the upcoming 2026–27 undergraduate admission session.

The regulations, approved during Sunday’s General Admission Committee meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam, permit candidates from Science, Humanities, and Business Studies backgrounds to apply for programs outside their secondary education streams under defined GPA cutoffs.

According to the official criteria, Science stream graduates applying to switch into the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit or the Business Studies Unit must maintain a minimum combined GPA of 8.0 across their SSC and HSC examinations, with at least a 3.5 individual GPA in each public exam.

Humanities and Business Studies students interested in changing streams to apply for the Science Unit must possess a minimum combined GPA of 7.5 across SSC and HSC examinations, with an individual minimum GPA of 3.0 in each exam.

Similarly, Humanities students applying for the Business Studies Unit, as well as Business stream students applying for the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit, must hold a combined GPA of at least 7.5, with no individual GPA falling below 3.0.

The university administration affirmed that these stream-switching provisions ensure flexibility for multi-disciplinary learning while maintaining academic rigor. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official admission portal starting November 11, 2026.
