DU to Provide Separate Admission Question Paper for English-Medium Applicants
In a major step toward ensuring equitable evaluation for students from diverse academic backgrounds, Dhaka University (DU) has decided to formulate a separate question paper tailored to the curriculum of English-medium applicants for the Science Unit in the upcoming 2026–27 undergraduate admission test.
The decision was finalized during the university's General Admission Committee meeting on Sunday (August 2) at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam. The initiative addresses long-standing hurdles faced by GCE A-Level and O-Level graduates, who frequently encounter terminological and conceptual mismatches when answering questions designed exclusively around the national NCTB textbook syllabus.
Under this specialized arrangement, English-medium candidates appearing for the Science Unit examination on December 12, 2026, will receive question papers structured specifically to mirror international English-medium science curricula. University officials noted that this measure aims to create a level playing field, enabling English-medium candidates to demonstrate their subject mastery without facing linguistic or curricular disadvantages.
While the question structure will be adapted, English-medium applicants must still fulfill the standard academic criteria, including the required GPA thresholds set by the university. Online applications for the Science Unit and all other undergraduate programs will run from November 11 to November 25, 2026.
