No Second-Time Opportunity in DU Admission Tests; Detailed Eligibility Criteria Outlined

Dhaka University (DU) has reiterated its long-standing policy prohibiting second-time applicants from taking undergraduate admission tests for the 2026–27 academic session, maintaining that only first-time HSC graduates will be eligible to compete for available seats.

According to decisions finalized during Sunday’s General Admission Committee meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam, eligibility is strictly restricted to students passing their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations in 2026. Applicants must also have passed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent examinations between 2021 and 2024, effectively barring candidates from previous HSC batches from applying.

The university administration outlined specific academic prerequisites required across all five admission units. Candidates applying for the Science Unit must hold a combined GPA of at least 8.0 across SSC and HSC examinations, with a minimum individual GPA of 3.5 in each. For applicants seeking entry into the Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit or the Business Studies Unit, minimum combined GPA thresholds range between 7.5 and 8.0 depending on the student's secondary education stream, with individual GPA requirements set at 3.0 or 3.5. Applicants for the Fine Arts Unit require a minimum combined GPA of 6.5, with at least 3.0 in each public examination.

The continuation of the policy restricting second-time test takers aims to protect the admission prospects of current-year HSC graduates and maintain efficiency throughout the competitive admission process. Eligible candidates can complete their online application process from November 11 to November 25, 2026.
