Dhaka University (DU) has reaffirmed its commitment to decentralization and student accessibility by announcing that admission tests for three major units in the 2026–27 undergraduate session will be held simultaneously across eight divisional university campuses nationwide.

The decision, finalized during Sunday's General Admission Committee meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam, aims to eliminate the massive logistical and financial burdens faced by thousands of applicants and their families who previously had to travel to the capital for examinations.

Under this decentralized framework, candidates applying for the Science Unit, Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit, and Business Studies Unit can sit for their exams at public universities in their respective regions. The participating divisional centers include Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, alongside DU's main campus in Dhaka. Only the Fine Arts Unit and IBA Unit exams will remain centralized on the main university grounds due to specialized evaluation requirements.

Educational experts and student welfare organizations have praised the continuation of regional testing centers, emphasizing that taking exams closer to home significantly decreases travel fatigue, temporary housing expenses, and severe traffic gridlock in Dhaka during the competitive admission season.

University administration confirmed that standardized technological, security, and invigilation protocols will be implemented across all eight divisional venues to ensure uniform testing conditions and preserve examination integrity for candidates across Bangladesh.
