National University Opens MPhil-PhD Admissions for 2025 Session
The National University has announced admissions for the 2025 academic year’s MPhil and PhD programs under the Institute of Liberation War and Bangladesh Studies (ILWBS). Interested candidates can apply until November 20, 2025, as notified in a circular issued on Monday.
According to the circular, the two-year MPhil program requires 40 credits, with the first year (two semesters, 12 months) dedicated to coursework and the second to thesis work. Applicants need a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (out of 4.00) in both Bachelor and Master’s degrees.
The four-year PhD program totals 52 credits. Direct PhD entry requires an MPhil degree, but academics, researchers, development professionals, or others may receive relaxations at the university’s discretion.
The circular mandates employed applicants to apply through proper channels, particularly encouraging college teachers.
Both programs require written and oral tests. Application forms are available at www.nu.ac.bd/admissions. The fee is Tk 1,500. Selected MPhil scholars will receive a monthly stipend of Tk 15,000, and PhD scholars Tk 20,000. Candidates can contact the ILWBS Director for inquiries.
