Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that teachers and employees of Monthly Pay Order (MPO)-listed educational institutions will soon come under the new pay scale. He shared the information in a Facebook post on Sunday (November 1).

Meanwhile, several senior officials from the two ministries told The Daily Campus that MPO-listed teachers and employees would also receive salaries and allowances under the new pay scale. The secretaries of the two ministries have held several rounds of discussions on the matter.

However, teachers and employees of madrasa and technical educational institutions may not receive salaries under the new scale immediately, as their pay and allowances need to be calculated manually.

According to sources, it may take until December for MPO-listed teachers and employees to start receiving salaries under the new pay scale. The timeline could even extend to January next year, depending on the progress of work by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance.

A senior Education Ministry official, speaking to The Daily Campus on condition of anonymity, said, “MPO-listed personnel will also receive salaries and allowances under the new pay scale. However, the matter is no longer in our hands. It is now with the Finance Division. Teachers and employees will receive salaries and allowances under the 9th National Pay Scale from the time the Finance Division issues a separate gazette notification.”
