Teacher Transfer Results for Schools, Colleges, Madrasas and Technical Institutions to Be Published Through One Software
The results of transfer applications submitted by teachers working at private schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions will be published through a single software system, according to an in-principle decision. The matter will be finalised at a meeting at the Ministry of Education after Abdul Khaleque, senior secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, returns to the country.
The preliminary decision was taken at a meeting held at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Wednesday, The Daily Campus was told by officials from the Ministry of Education, the three directorates and several heads of educational institutions who attended the meeting.
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Technical and Madrasa Education Division Secretary Daud Mia, acting Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Dr Sardar Md Keramat Ali, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Director General Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Directorate of Madrasa Education Director General Muhammad Shahadat Hossain and Directorate of Technical Education Director General (additional charge) Farida Yasmin attended the meeting.
Also present were Joint Secretaries of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Zahirul Islam, Md Helaluzzaman Sarkar and Saiyed A. Z. Morshed Ali; Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Director (Secondary) Professor Md Sakhawat Hossain Khan; Directorate of Technical Education Director Muhammad Mozammel Hossain Khan; and officials from various departments and institutions.
According to sources at the meeting, the application process for transfers of school and college teachers has ended. Applications from teachers working at madrasas were collected in hard copy, while technical education teachers submitted their applications through software.
Although madrasa teachers' applications were collected manually, their transfer results will not be published manually. As the Directorate of Madrasa Education has been unable to develop its own software, the results will be published through the software developed for school and college teachers.
Sources said applications from teachers at schools and colleges, madrasas and technical institutions were collected separately, but the three directorates would use the same software to process transfers. The system developed by state-owned telecommunications company Teletalk will be used for the purpose.
Discussions will be held with Teletalk to enhance the software's capacity. The decision will be finalised after consultations with Abdul Khaleque, senior secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.
A head teacher who attended the meeting, speaking to The Daily Campus on condition of anonymity, said, “Everyone agreed that transfers under the three directorates would be processed through the same software. The results will also be published through the same software. However, no final decision has yet been made on how this will be implemented. The matter will be finalised at a meeting at the Ministry of Education.”
Changes to Teachers' Transfer Policy Under Consideration, Fresh Applications May Be Required
The transfer policy for MPO-listed teachers working at private schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions may be revised. Some participants have also suggested accepting fresh applications after changes are made to the policy.
The issue was discussed preliminarily at Wednesday's meeting at the International Mother Language Institute. However, no decision has been made on which provisions of the existing policy may be amended.
According to sources, ministry officials at the meeting expressed the view that the policy needed to be revised to address existing problems. An in-principle decision was taken to amend the policy before publishing the transfer results. Some participants also suggested inviting fresh applications after the revisions.
An official who attended the meeting, speaking to The Daily Campus on condition of anonymity, said, “There will be some changes to the teachers' transfer policy. It is too early to say whether fresh applications will be accepted after the policy is revised. If major changes are made to the policy, there is a possibility that new applications will be invited. However, fresh applications may not be required either. The issues will be discussed and a decision will be taken after Abdul Khaleque, senior secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, returns to the country.”
