Milestone teacher killed after being hit by two buses in Dhaka

A teacher of Milestone School and College was killed after a bus hit her motorcycle and threw her onto the road, where she was run over by another bus in Dhaka’s Banasree area on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Tasfia Ahmed Tisha, 31, a teacher at the Aftabnagar branch of Milestone School and College. She lived in Meradia Nayapara in Khilgaon. Her father is Md Shafuddin Ahmed, and their ancestral home is in Professor Para of Chandpur Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred around 8pm in the Banasree area.

According to eyewitnesses, Tasfia was riding a motorcycle when a bus of Ramzan Paribahan hit her from behind. She was thrown from the motorcycle and fell onto the road. She was then run over by another bus of Sara Paribahan and died at the scene.

Witnesses said handprints could be seen on the wheel of the bus after the accident.

A relative said Tasfia had left home to attend to some work. She was first taken to Farazi Hospital in Banasree after the accident. She was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 9:30pm, where doctors declared her dead.

Confirming the incident, Khilgaon police station Sub-Inspector Anoy Chandra Pal said police recovered the body around 8:45pm and kept it at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“The two buses involved in the accident have been seized. A driver and a helper have also been detained,” he said.

Tasfia’s relatives rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after learning about the accident.

Mohammad Musa, owner of a tailoring shop in Banasree, told reporters at the hospital that Tasfia regularly had clothes made at his shop. He said she was supposed to travel to Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.

Musa said he saw Tasfia’s bloodied body lying on the road and informed her family members.
