Dhaka Education Board Yet to Finalize Class 11 Admission Schedule: What Board Says

The Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has not yet finalized the specific application start date for Class 11 admissions for the new academic year. Dhaka Board Secretary Prof. S. M. Kamal Uddin Haider stated that the admission schedule is expected to be finalized by the upcoming Sunday or Monday.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 12, Prof. Haider clarified that discussions are ongoing to establish the timeline. Earlier, Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Syed Akhteruzzaman announced that all higher secondary admission processes must be completed by September 15.

Total capacity across college-level higher secondary education stands at 2.5 million seats nationwide. However, due to a lower overall pass rate in the recent public examinations, more than 1.35 million seats will remain vacant.

The national pass rate for the 2026 SSC and equivalent exams dropped to 62.25 percent, with a total of 1,138,877 successful candidates. Specifically, the general education boards recorded a pass rate of 64.05 percent, marking a 3.99 percent decrease compared to 68.04 percent in 2025.

Data shows a significant drop in top-tier results, with total GPA-5 achievers falling to 106,009 this year compared to 125,018 in 2025, representing a decrease of 19,009. Meanwhile, female students outperformed male counterparts in general boards, with 107,982 more girls passing and 11,401 more securing GPA-5 than boys. Despite the lower pass rates, infrastructural expansion saw total educational institutions increase by 303 and exam centers by 201.
