Class XI Admissions Must Be Completed by September 15, Inter-Education Board Announces

Student admissions for the upcoming higher secondary academic year must be fully concluded by September 15, Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Syed Akhtaruzzaman announced on Monday.

Speaking during the official publication of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examination results at the Ministry of Education conference room on Monday, August 10, Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman outlined the enrollment timeline while presenting a comprehensive statistical overview of performance metrics within the country's general education boards.

According to the data released during the briefing, the overall pass rate across the nine general education boards stood at 64.05 percent for 2026, reflecting a decrease from the 68.04 percent recorded in the previous year, or a decline of 3.99 percentage points. Despite the broader reduction in pass rates, female candidates demonstrated a pronounced performance lead within the general education stream.

General board statistics indicated that 107,982 more female students successfully passed the examinations compared to their male counterparts. Additionally, female examinees secured 11,401 more GPA-5 distinctions than boys across the general boards.

The figures also highlighted a year-on-year drop in maximum-grade recipients within the general stream, with 106,009 students achieving a GPA-5 in 2026 compared to 125,018 in 2025, marking a decrease of 19,009 top grades. Concurrently, educational infrastructure saw expansion nationwide, with the total number of registered institutions increasing by 303 and testing centers rising by 201.
