Class XI Admissions to Follow Traditional GPA and Marks System, Education Minister Confirms

Student admissions for Class XI across higher secondary institutions will continue under the traditional framework, utilizing examination marks and GPA scores for placement, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced on Monday, August 10.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the Ministry of Education conference room, Minister Milon confirmed that college admissions would maintain the established scoring methodology rather than shifting to alternative selection processes.

The announcement followed the formal release of the 2026 SSC and equivalent examination outcomes earlier in the morning, which recorded a cumulative nationwide pass rate of 62.25 percent across the country's eleven education boards.

Prior to the briefing, regional education board chairpersons formally handed over the official examination statistics. Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President Prof. Dr. Syed Akhtaruzzaman also presented the comprehensive performance metrics during the ministry event.

Addressing reporters regarding the admission mechanism, Minister Milon explicitly clarified the policy framework.

"Admissions to Class XI will take place using the traditional system based on marks or GPA."

The confirmation provides definitive procedural clarity for students who recently completed their secondary examinations, outlining the administrative pathway for higher secondary enrollment as educational institutions prepare to launch the upcoming admission cycle.
