SSC 2026: 690,608 Students Fail, Highest Number in Years

The official results were released at 10:00 a.m. on Monday through the education boards' websites, respective educational institutions, and mobile SMS services. A total of 1,857,344 candidates participated in the examinations this year across 3,885 centers from 30,666 educational institutions nationwide. Among the examinees, 930,305 were male students and 927,039 were female students.

Out of the total participants, 1,138,877 candidates successfully passed the examinations, while 690,608 students failed. The nationwide average pass rate across the 11 education boards stood at 62.25 percent, reflecting a drop from last year's pass rate of 68.45 percent. A total of 116,676 students achieved the highest grade point of GPA-5.

Performance varied across regional education boards. The Dhaka Education Board secured the highest pass rate at 71.63 percent, while the Mymensingh Education Board recorded the lowest pass rate among regional boards at 57.39 percent.

Board-wise pass rates across the country showed Jashore at 66.27 percent, Cumilla at 65.42 percent, Rajshahi at 63.67 percent, Barishal at 60.35 percent, Chattogram at 59.48 percent, Sylhet at 58.33 percent, Dinajpur at 58.05 percent, and the Technical Education Board at 58.20 percent. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board recorded a pass rate of 55.49 percent.

The candidate distribution across educational streams showed that 1,418,318 students appeared under the nine general education boards, while 303,286 candidates sat for the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasah Education Board, and 134,660 examinees participated in vocational examinations under the Technical Education Board. Total form fill-ups slightly exceeded participation figures, with 1,418,398 registered under general boards and 304,286 under the madrasa board.

This year's examinations commenced on April 21. Written tests for the general education boards concluded on May 20, whereas theoretical evaluations for the Madrasah Dakhil and Technical Vocational streams wrapped up on May 24.

Under standard procedural norms, secondary examination results are typically published within sixty days following the completion of written papers. Although the Ministry of Education had initially indicated a tentative publication date of July 20, unavoidable circumstances delayed the final release until August 10.Students and academic institutions can access detailed marksheets and scorecards through official government web portals or by utilizing mobile SMS services.
