Board Issues Urgent Directive on Name, Birth Date Corrections in Certificates
The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued a fresh directive to prevent the harassment and unnecessary suffering of students applying for corrections to their names and dates of birth in academic certificates.
The directive was made public through an official notification signed by the Board’s Secretary, Professor S.M. Kamal Uddin Haidar, on Saturday (July 4).
According to the notification, heads of all educational institutions affiliated with the Dhaka Board must immediately forward applications for name and date of birth corrections to the board as soon as they are flawlessly completed by the applicants.
The board highlighted that many educational institutions sit on completed applications instead of forwarding them on time, causing applicants to face prolonged administrative hurdles and unnecessary harassment. The notification explicitly noted that such negligence will no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.
To streamline the process and ensure transparency, the board also mandated that the application forms must strictly feature the mobile phone number of either the applicant or their legal guardian. Under no circumstances can the mobile number of the educational institution or any third-party individual be used in the form.
The Dhaka Board has urged all concerned educational institutions to maintain maximum vigilance and strictly adhere to these newly issued instructions.
