Over 387,000 teachers and employees under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme at private schools and colleges are set to receive their Eid-ul-Adha festival allowance before the upcoming holidays. While the formal proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Education, final approval and the subsequent Government Order (GO) are expected next week.

A source from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) confirmed today, Monday (May 11), that the festival allowance proposal for more than 3.87 lakh educators has been forwarded to the ministry. Once the GO is issued, the data will be integrated into the iBAS++ system for disbursement.

Speaking to The Daily Campus, Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwary, Director (Finance and Procurement) of DSHE, assured teachers that the process is on track.

"Although the formal Government Order (GO) for the Eid bonus has not been issued yet, teachers and employees will certainly receive their festival allowance before Eid-ul-Adha." — Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwary

Under the current digital system, institutional heads submit online bills for teachers and staff. These are scrutinized and coordinated with the Ministry of Finance to release the funds. Following final clearance from the Finance Ministry, the authorities send the salary and allowance amounts to the designated banks.

The government’s transition to digital bill submission and Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) has made the process more transparent and efficient, significantly reducing the delays that previously plagued MPO payments.

The upcoming festival allowance will cover:

  • School Teachers & Staff: Over 3 lakh individuals

  • College Teachers & Staff: Approximately 87,000 individuals

Teachers are advised to monitor official notifications from their respective institutions, as the funds will be credited directly to their bank accounts once the ministerial process is completed in the coming days.
