The Ministry of Education has officially approved the salary proposal for April for teachers and employees under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme at private schools and colleges. A Government Order (GO) has been issued in this regard, and the teaching staff is expected to receive their salaries and allowances within this week.

Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwary, Director (Finance and Procurement) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), confirmed the development to The Daily Campus.

"The salary-allowance proposal for April has been approved. Barring any unforeseen technical complications, teachers and employees will receive their funds very soon." — Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwary

According to DSHE sources, the salary proposal was sent to the Ministry of Education on April 28. Previously, on April 22, heads of educational institutions were instructed to submit bills via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) by April 24. While the bills were submitted on time, the processing was pending final ministerial approval, which has now been granted.

A total of 387,415 teachers and employees are set to benefit from this disbursement. The breakdown is as follows:

  • School Teachers & Staff: 300,736 individuals

  • College Teachers & Staff: 87,089 individuals

The move to disburse salaries via EFT is part of the government's initiative to ensure transparency and reduce delays in the MPO payment system. Once the funds are released to the banks, teachers will receive notifications on their registered mobile numbers, and the amount will be credited directly to their respective bank accounts.

This news comes as a significant relief to thousands of educators who have been waiting for their April remuneration amid the ongoing academic session and the pressure of the SSC examination duties.
