The 2026 SSC examination is set to begin tomorrow, Tuesday (April 21). Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milan has indicated that the subsequent SSC examination will be held within this year. He shared this information during a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday (April 20) regarding the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations.

Previously, the Education Minister had spoken of a preliminary plan to conduct the SSC and HSC examinations in December.

During the press conference, when asked when the decision to hold the examination in December would be implemented, the Education Minister said, "Classes began in January with the syllabus provided. The course is scheduled to end in December. If the course ends in December, why should I waste a year of the students' lives?"

When journalists asked again if the next SSC examination would therefore be held in December, the Education Minister replied, "Every examination will be held at its scheduled time. Every course will conclude by December, and the examination must take place within December—loud and clear."

Mentioning that the HSC examination is scheduled for this coming July, a reporter asked whether the boards would be capable of conducting two major public examinations in such a short timeframe. Responding to this, the Education Minister stated, "My concern is not the boards, but the students. If the syllabus is completed in December, we cannot waste a year of the students' time."

When asked whether it is possible to complete the course by December following an announcement made in April, the Education Minister remarked, "Classes began in January. To address any disruptions that have occurred, classes are being held six days a week." He reiterated the completion of the course by December. However, he did not explicitly announce a finalized, binding decision regarding holding the examination in December.
