68,768 Students Awarded Junior Scholarship 2025

The results of the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025 (Class VIII) were officially published today, Wednesday (25 February). A total of 68,768 students have been selected for scholarships this year:

  • 21,497 will receive Talentpool (merit) scholarships
  • 37,261 will receive General scholarships

The results were handed over to Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haq Milon at 1:30 pm. At the same time, all education boards published gazettes containing the list of selected students.

Based on the results of the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025, a total of 68,768 students across Bangladesh have been awarded scholarships. Of these, 21,497 students received merit scholarships while 37,261 students received general scholarships.

Education experts say the program plays a crucial role in encouraging meritorious students and enhancing the overall quality of education in the country.

Dhaka Board recorded the highest number of scholarship recipients at 11,384, while Barishal had the lowest at 2,735.

Madrasa Education Board

Under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, 43,709 students took part in the exam. Of these, 6,708 received merit scholarships and 15,652 received general scholarships, totaling 22,360 recipients.

Division-wise results:

  • Ebtedayi (Class V): 3,354 merit, 7,826 general, total 11,180

  • Dakhil (Class VIII): 3,354 merit, 7,826 general, total 11,180

Technical Education Board

The Bangladesh Technical Education Board had 2,611 examinees, of which 89 received merit scholarships and 119 received general scholarships, making a total of 208 recipients. These scholarships are primarily for vocational (JS and JD) students.

General Education Boards

A total of 315,160 students participated under the nine general education boards. Among them, 14,700 students received merit scholarships and 31,500 students received general scholarships, bringing the total number of scholarship recipients under these boards to 46,200.

Scholarship Amounts

  • Talentpool (Merit) Scholarship (22,894 students):
    • One-time annual grant: Tk 560
    • Monthly stipend: Tk 450
    • Duration: 2 years → Total over 2 years: Tk 11,360
  • General Scholarship (45,874 students):
    • One-time annual grant: Tk 350
    • Monthly stipend: Tk 300
    • Duration: 2 years → Total over 2 years: Tk 7,550

This financial assistance will be provided for two years. The money is usually deposited directly into the students’ bank accounts. Detailed instructions (bank account opening, form filling, etc.) will be provided by the education boards and schools after result publication.

A total of 3,15,160 students appeared in the exam. The test covered five subjects: Bangla, English, Mathematics, Science, and Bangladesh and Global Studies, with a total of 400 marks.

  1. Online: Visit dpe.gov.bd → ‘Scholarship Result’ section → Enter roll number and year (2026).
  2. SMS: Type board name, roll number, and year → Send to 16222.
