Shibir-Backed Panel Sweeps 24 of 26 CUCSU Posts in Landslide Victory

The Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed "Sompritir Shikkharthi Jote" panel secured a landslide victory in the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) election, winning 24 of 26 posts. The results, announced around 5:00am on Thursday, October 16, 2025, covered 14 halls and one hostel. The Chhatra Dal-backed panel won the assistant general secretary (AGS) post, while the Binnirman Shikkharthi Oikya panel took the joint sports secretary post.

Ibrahim Hossain Rony won the vice president (VP) post with 7,983 votes, defeating Chhatra Dal’s Sajjad Hossain Hridoy (4,374 votes). Saeed Bin Habib secured the general secretary (GS) post with 8,031 votes, surpassing Chhatra Dal’s Shafayet Hossain (2,714 votes). Chhatra Dal’s Ayubur Rahman Taufik won AGS with 7,014 votes, beating Shibir’s Sajjat Hossain Munna (5,045 votes). The joint sports secretary post went to Binnirman’s Tamanna Mahbub Preeti.

Other winners from the Shibir panel include: Harezul Islam (Hares Matabbar) as Literature, Culture, and Publication Secretary with 5,322 votes; Jihad Hossain as Joint Literature, Culture, and Publication Secretary with 6,781 votes; Abdullah Al Noman as Department Secretary with 3,258 votes, edging out Tahsan Habib (3,236 votes); Jannatul Adnan Nusrat as Joint Department Secretary with 6,982 votes; Nahima Akter Deepa as Girls Welfare Secretary with 6,165 votes; Jannatul Ferdous Rita as Joint Girls Welfare Secretary with 5,936 votes; Md. Mahbubur Rahman as Science and Technology Secretary with 6,128 votes; Tanvir Anjum Shobhan as Research and Innovation Secretary with 5,622 votes; Tahsina Rahman as Social Welfare and Environment Secretary with 6,227 votes; Afnan Hossain Imran as Health Secretary with 5,011 votes; Md. Monayem Sharif as Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary with 4,869 votes; Mehedi Hasan Sohan as Career Development and International Secretary with 4,987 votes; Md. Ishak Bhuiyan as Communication and Accommodation Secretary with 5,663 votes; Obaydul Salman as Joint Communication and Accommodation Secretary; Fazle Rabbi Touhid as Law and Human Rights Secretary with 7,373 votes; Masum Billah as Library and Cafeteria Secretary with 6,585 votes; and executive members Jannatul Ferdous Sanjida (6,115 votes), Adnan Sharif (4,789 votes), Akash Das (4,415 votes), Salman Farsi (4,412 votes), and Md. Sohanur Rahman (4,312 votes).
