Dhaka University Suspends All Exams for 12 Days During Durga Puja and Other Festivals

Dhaka University has suspended all pre-scheduled examinations from September 28 to October 9 due to Sharadiya Durga Puja, Fateha-i-Yazdeham, Prabarana Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja.
The decision was announced on Saturday (September 27) through an urgent notice from the Office of the Controller of Examinations. The notice stated that, following directives from the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission, all examinations across the university’s departments, institutes, and affiliated colleges/institutes are postponed to ensure a festive environment for these celebrations.
It added that new schedules for the deferred exams will be announced in due course. On September 24, the Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Division, through a directive signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Rajibul Alam, instructed that no exams be held during this period, aligning with the 2025 holiday list.
The directive, sent to the UGC and the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, approved a 12-day holiday from September 28 to October 9 for Durga Puja, Vijayadashami, Fateha-i-Yazdeham, Prabarana Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja. It urged all educational institutions to refrain from scheduling exams during these 12 days to ensure the festivals are celebrated with due reverence and festivity.
