Jahangirnagar University Slaps Total Ban on Ragging

Jahangirnagar University (JU) has declared a complete ban on all forms of ragging on campus. The announcement was made in a press release issued by the university’s public relations office on Saturday (September 20) afternoon.
The press release stated that, as per Section 5(e) of the Jahangirnagar University Discipline Ordinance 2018, "No student shall participate in teasing, ragging, or any form of abusive activities in the university’s halls, departments, or any other area within the campus."
It further clarified that ragging is a punishable offense. Depending on the severity of the offense, the maximum penalty for ragging can range from temporary suspension to permanent expulsion. The university has urged all concerned to cooperate in preventing ragging.
Additionally, students have been advised to contact the Proctor’s Office in case of any urgent need.
