The nomination process for the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) and hall union elections commenced today, Sunday, September 14, with distribution starting at 9:00 am at the CUCSU building. Candidates have until 3:30 pm on Tuesday to collect nomination forms and until 3:30 pm on Wednesday to submit them. The Election Commission has released the final voter list, incorporating 1,768 new voters from the previous draft, resulting in a total of 27,634 voters. While the commission did not provide a breakdown of male and female students, Member Secretary AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui indicated that this detail will be announced tomorrow or the day after.

Election officials stated that this year’s polls will extend eligibility to MPhil and PhD students, in addition to undergraduate and postgraduate candidates. Per the code of conduct, no candidate may bring more than five supporters when collecting or submitting nomination forms. Following the model of the recent Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, students will vote using the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) method.

The detailed schedule includes: publication of the preliminary candidate list on September 21, allowing withdrawals on September 23, and release of the final list on September 25. Voting is scheduled for October 12 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Nomination fees are set at Tk 200 for hall union posts and Tk 300 for central union posts. Upon collecting forms, candidates will receive a card for a dope test, requiring payment of Tk 350 and submission of a sample at the university medical center.

To obtain nomination forms, candidates must submit proof from the final voter list online along with their student voter ID number, followed by identity verification. Submissions require the candidate’s ID, photograph, and dope test results.
