1233 Candidates Collect Nomination Forms for RUCSU Election, Highest in Suhrawardy Hall

A total of 1,233 candidates have collected nomination forms for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) election, alongside elections for the Senate and 17 hall unions, as the nomination process concluded on Wednesday, September 3. The eight-day nomination distribution saw 395 candidates vying for 23 RUCSU posts, 84 for five Senate positions, and 754 for various posts across the hall unions.
Among the hall unions, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall recorded the highest number of aspirants, with 62 candidates seeking to contest. The details were confirmed by RUCSU’s Chief Returning Officer, Professor Setaur Rahman, and Professor Sharmin Hamid, convener of the Provosts’ Council and provost of Khaleda Zia Hall.
While the deadline for candidates to submit samples for mandatory dope tests was initially set for Wednesday, the Election Commission extended it by one day to September 4. Chief Election Commissioner Professor F Nazrul Islam stated, “The nomination form distribution process has concluded, and there is no scope for further extensions. We hope the voting process will proceed in a festive and orderly manner.”
The RUCSU election, a significant event in the university’s student politics, is expected to generate considerable enthusiasm on campus as candidates prepare for the upcoming polls. The Election Commission remains committed to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.
