A coaster carrying teachers from Islamic University (IU) collided head-on with a passenger bus on the Kushtia-Khulna highway near 11 Mile on Sunday morning, August 17, 2025. Several people were injured, but no fatalities have been reported so far.

The incident occurred during the university’s scheduled 10:00 AM trip from Kushtia city to the campus. The teachers’ coaster, departing at 10:00 AM, was near 11 Mile when it crashed into a Kushtia-bound passenger bus (Rupsa) coming from Khulna. Sources indicate the passenger bus attempted to overtake an auto-van, leading to the collision with the oncoming coaster. The Rupsa bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

According to sources, IU Professor Dr. Shafiqul Islam and the coaster driver, Nazrul Islam, were among the injured. Students from a following bus carrying IU students quickly transported the injured to Kushtia Sadar Hospital for treatment.
