Prof. Dr. Mahbub Ullah Appointed National Professor

Eminent academician Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah has been appointed as a National Professor of Bangladesh for a five-year tenure from the date of his joining. The government issued an official notification under the Bangladesh National Professor Policy 2023, confirming that the order has been made in the public interest and comes into immediate effect.

Under the terms of the appointment, Dr. Mahbub Ullah will not be classified as a government official. He retains full autonomy to conduct research in his preferred field while affiliated with an academic or research institution of his choice, provided he officially notifies the Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED) under the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh regarding his research domain.

The host organization will track his academic work and submit annual progress reports to the UGC Chairman, while delivering the final research outputs to SHED, the Ministry of Education, and the UGC. During his tenure, Professor Mahbub Ullah will receive pay, allowances, and executive benefits equivalent to Grade-1 of the National Pay Scale 2015, and he is strictly barred from holding any other gainful or paid employment.
