Body of Missing BUP Student Nahiyan Recovered After Bandarban Boat Capsize
The body of Jawad-ul Islam Nahian, a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) who went missing following a boat capsize in the Sangu River in Thanchi Upazila, Bandarban, was recovered by rescue teams on Sunday morning (July 26).
The deceased was identified as Jawad-ul Islam Nahian (24), an 8th-batch student of the Department of International Relations (IR) at BUP. He was the son of Helal Uddin, hailing from the Maskanda area in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila.
According to local sources, the accident occurred on Friday afternoon (July 24) when a boat carrying a group of trekkers overturned in the remote Tindu Boropathar section of the Sangu River. A search and rescue operation was launched immediately following the incident, resulting in the retrieval of his body on Sunday after an extensive search.
Six other passengers on board at the time of the capsize were rescued safely as they were wearing life jackets. Nahian was the sole missing person from the accident.
