Dhaka Central University to Receive Budgetary Allocation from First Academic Year
Dhaka Central University is slated to receive its maiden formal budgetary allocation starting from the 2026-27 academic year. The decision was finalized during a high-level budget review meeting for the 2026-27 fiscal year, held at the conference room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education. The planning session was presided over by Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan.
According to ministry officials present at the briefing, the specialized allocation has been proposed in the core budget to rapidly construct smart classrooms, scale up Information Technology infrastructures, and bring campus perimeters under comprehensive free Wi-Fi zones. These measures align directly with the government’s structural manifesto to establish digitized and highly accessible classrooms across public universities.
Beyond technological modernizations, the 2026-27 budget draft prioritizes large-scale employment generation through the physical establishment of Dhaka Central University and the University of Bogra. The fiscal layout explicitly accommodates the formal sanctioning of new academic departments, specialized research institutes, and required statutory manpower log frames across both newly formed and existing public universities.
Ministry sources confirmed that specialized fiscal brackets have been integrated into the upcoming budget proposal specifically to cover the foundational execution and administrative startup costs of the newly established Dhaka Central University.
