BUP Finance Society crowns winners of investment competition 'Capitalizer 2026'

The grand finale of the national student investment strategy competition, "Capitalizer 2026," concluded on 23rd March at the Radisson Blu Dhaka. Organized by the BUP Finance Society under the Department of Business Administration in Finance and Banking at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), the competition serves as a national platform challenging students to move beyond textbook finance to tackle complex, real-world financial issues under intense pressure.

Presented by Title Sponsor JCI Dhaka Astral, the event was powered by Gold Sponsors Eastern Bank PLC and ACI PLC, co-powered by Silver Sponsor Gold Kinen, and supported by Bronze Sponsor Atlas Bangladesh.

Major General A S M Ridwanur Rahman, Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), graced the ceremony as the chief guest. His presence added immense prestige to the occasion and inspired the participants through his distinguished leadership and service.

Adding further prestige, Brigadier General Md Aminul Akbar Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at BUP, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Md Atique Chowdhury, Chairman of the Department of Business Administration in Finance & Banking, attended the event as distinguished guests. Their presence demonstrated the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting student-driven endeavors and promoting academic development. The event also brought together delegates from partner organizations and renowned corporate institutions, emphasizing the expanding partnership between academia and the corporate sphere.

This year's edition witnessed massive participation from more than 300 teams representing 30 universities across Bangladesh, each arriving with strategies they believed could hold up under real pressure. After two grueling rounds that tested the full breadth of their financial competencies, only the top 6 teams earned their place on the stage of the Grand Finale.

The final round was overseen by a distinguished panel of judges from academia, finance, and the corporate sector. They evaluated the teams as they shared their insights on investment strategies and financial forecasts that demanded not just technical depth, but clarity of thought and composure under pressure.

Team "Assets = Capital + Liabilities" from BUP emerged as the Champion of Capitalizer 2026, standing out with exceptional strategic precision and confidence. "Team 505" from the University of Dhaka followed as the First Runner-up, while "Team The Godfathers," also from BUP, secured the Second Runner-up position, with both teams being exceptional in their own light.

The massive execution of the tournament was strengthened through the collaboration of an extensive network of partner organizations. TBS Graduate served as the Youth Engagement Partner, while Shawarma Damasco took role as Food Partner.
