Shariful Karim Appointed Vice-Chancellor of Comilla University

Comilla University has appointed Professor Dr M. M. Shariful Karim of the Department of English as its new Vice-Chancellor.

The appointment was announced through an official notification issued on Thursday (May 14) by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

Prof Karim is also a member of the University Teachers Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) at the university.

According to the notification, the appointment was made with the approval of the President and Chancellor under Section 10(1) of the Comilla University Act, 2006.

As per the terms of the appointment, Prof Karim will serve as Vice-Chancellor for four years from the date of joining or until his retirement, whichever comes earlier.

During his tenure, he will receive the salary and allowances equivalent to his current position, along with other benefits in accordance with university rules.

The notification further stated that, as the university’s chief executive officer, he will remain stationed on campus on a full-time basis.

The order was issued in the public interest through a notification signed by Assistant Secretary Md Sultan Ahmed of the Ministry of Education.
