The National University (NU) has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Honours 1st Year examination form fill-up. According to a notification signed by Controller of Examinations Md. Enamul Karim, the online application process will commence on May 13, 2026, and will continue until June 11, 2026. This schedule applies to regular students of the 2024-25 academic session as well as irregular and grade improvement candidates from previous batches.

Eligibility and Key Dates

The university has outlined specific timelines for students and college authorities to ensure a smooth administrative process. Students must complete their online applications within the June 11 deadline and submit the printed copies to their respective colleges. College authorities will then verify and confirm the applications online between May 14 and June 15, 2026. The prescribed examination fees must be deposited through Sonali Bank between June 17 and June 18, 2026.

Beyond the 2024-25 regular batch, irregular and grade improvement candidates from the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 sessions are eligible to apply. Furthermore, promoted students from the 2017-18 to 2020-21 sessions who carry "F" grades in specific courses are also permitted to sit for the exams under defined conditions.

Guidelines for "F" Grade and Grade Improvement

The notification provides detailed instructions for students seeking to clear backlogs or improve their results. Students from the 2018-19 to 2023-24 sessions who have been promoted to the second year but have one or more "F" grades must appear for those specific courses in this 2025 exam. However, the maximum attainable result for these cleared courses will be a "B+" grade. All "F" grades must be upgraded to at least a "D" grade within the registration validity period.

For the 2017-18 batch, a special opportunity has been granted. Students with "F" grades from this session can fill out the form by paying a total fee of BDT 5,000. These candidates will appear as irregular students following the 2013-14 old syllabus without needing to renew their registration. However, this is a final chance; failure in this exam will result in permanent disqualification from further attempts. Additionally, there is no provision for grade improvement in practical examinations.

Syllabus and Application Instructions

Regular students will follow the four-year Honours curriculum and the revised regulations effective from the 2024-25 academic session. Irregular candidates will continue to follow the syllabus effective from 2013-14. Students who achieved "C-Promotion" in the 2024 exams must appear for their previously absent papers. Those who passed their first attempt in 2024 are allowed to sit for grade improvement in a maximum of two courses where they received a "C" or "D" grade.

Students are instructed to download their application forms from the official National University portal. The university warned that candidates must accurately input their subject codes as listed in the syllabus; the university will not be held responsible for errors in subject codes. If a mistake occurs, the application must be canceled through college authorities and refilled. A photocopy of the registration card must be submitted along with the application form to the respective department heads.
