DU Appoints Professor Dr. Abdus Salam as New Pro-VC

Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has been appointed as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Dhaka University (DU).
He is currently serving as the (Acting) Dean of the Faculty of Science.
The appointment was made on Monday (13 April) through a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Education, signed by Deputy Secretary ASM Kashem, with the approval of the President and Chancellor.
According to the notification, under Article 13(1) of the Dhaka University Order 1973, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has been temporarily appointed to the post of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) with the following conditions:
- The appointment will take effect from the date of joining.
- He will receive the same salary and allowances as his current position.
- He will enjoy other benefits as per university rules.
- He must remain full-time on the university campus.
- The President and Chancellor reserve the right to cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.
The order has been issued in the public interest.
