Bangladeshi Researcher Monirul Islam featured in Stanford’s Top 2% List
Bangladeshi academic and researcher Md. Monirul Islam has earned a prestigious global recognition by securing a place in the Stanford University / Elsevier Top 2% List of Researchers — one of the most respected rankings of the world’s most influential scientists.
Mr. Islam has built a distinguished transcontinental academic career, maintaining active roles in both Russia and Bangladesh. He currently serves as a Research Fellow at the Graduate School of Economics and Management, Ural Federal University in Russia, where he completed his PhD on the geopolitics of critical mineral resources and their importance in the global clean energy transition.
In Bangladesh, he holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM), affiliated with the University of Dhaka. He completed his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and M.Phil degrees from the University of Dhaka before pursuing his doctoral studies in economics.
Beyond academia, Mr. Islam actively contributes to policy research as a part-time Research Fellow at several Dhaka-based think tanks, focusing on political economy, governance, and energy issues.
His research impact has been widely recognized.
