Students of Dhaka University (DU) have launched a sit-in protest in front of Shahbagh Police Station demanding justice for Naimuddin, a 29th batch student of the Anthropology Department, who was allegedly brutally assaulted by police.
The demonstration began around 1:00 pm on Tuesday (24 February). The protesters are raising three specific demands:
- Immediate punishment for DC Masud and all police personnel involved in the attack.
- Complete end to all unwarranted policing inside and outside the campus area.
- Guaranteed round-the-clock security and protection of human rights for all DU students.
Students from various departments of the university have joined the sit-in. They are chanting slogans and holding placards demanding action against the perpetrators and an end to police interference on campus.
The protest is being held under the banner “Against Oppression – Anthropology,” according to a message circulated by the demonstrators.
