Webometrics, a Madrid-based group, ranks universities by teaching, research impact, innovation and diffusion of technology, economic relevance, and social, cultural, and environmental roles, using institutional web content plus researchers and publications. It has published rankings twice yearly (January and July) since 2004.
RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saleh Hasan Nakib said the streak is “a matter of great joy,” crediting quality and volume of research despite hardships. He said recent hires of very talented faculty would help RU do even better, thanking teachers for keeping the top spot three times. He added that those lagging in research should feel encouraged: “There is no end to improvement; students, teachers, and researchers will do even better.”
