Dhaka University to light up key buildings on 15–16 December for Victory Month
Dhaka University authorities have strongly refuted social media and press reports claiming that the traditional illumination of campus buildings during Victory Month has been cancelled this year, terming the information “completely false and motivated”.
In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Office, it was clarified:
“As in previous years, Dhaka University will continue its tradition of celebrating Victory Month with due dignity. A colourful Victory Rally was held on 1 December, followed by a discussion and patriotic songs based on the Liberation War.
A month-long programme has been drawn up. As every year, illumination will be carried out on the nights of 15 and 16 December at the Vice-Chancellor’s residence and other important buildings on campus.
Claims that illumination was previously done throughout the entire month are incorrect.”
The university urged all concerned to refrain from spreading misleading information about the celebration of this significant national month.
