Shibir panel fields Riyazul-Arif-Masud for top three JnUCSU posts

Today Monday (17 November) is the last day for collecting nomination papers for Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) election. University unit Chhatra Shibir and AP Bangladesh are jointly fielding a panel this time. The panel will be formally announced today, sources said. Meanwhile, unit Chhatra Adhikar Parishad and Chhatra Dal are also bringing a joint panel.

In Shibir panel, university unit president Riyazul Islam will contest for VP post while general secretary Abdul Alim Arif for GS post. UP Bangladesh organiser Masud Rana will run for AGS post.

VP candidate Riyazul Islam is a 2018-19 session student of Law Department. GS candidate Abdul Alim Arif is from the same session of Land Law Department. AGS candidate Masud Rana is a 2019-20 session student of Physics Department. The panel will be finalised and announced today.

Besides, the panel will include popular and familiar students who do not engage in campus politics. Sources from JnU Shibir unit and central committee confirmed this is the final panel of JnU Shibir and it will be announced formally today.

It is learnt that in the last two days a total of 31 students have collected nomination papers individually for the central students’ union election. No one collected for hall unions. In the last two days no student organisation finalised panel and collected nominations. All student organisations will collect nomination papers today.

Earlier, according to the schedule announced on 5 November, final voter list was published on 12 November. Four persons collected nomination papers on 13 November. Distribution of nomination papers continued on 16 November and will continue till 17 November. Nomination papers will be submitted on 17 and 18 November, scrutiny on 19 and 20 November, primary candidate list will be published on 23 November and objections from candidates will be received and disposed of on 24, 25 and 26 November.

Besides, dope test of candidates will be held on 27 and 30 November. Election commission will publish final candidate list on 3 December. Afterwards, nomination papers can be withdrawn till 4, 7 and 8 December. List of withdrawn candidates will be published on 9 December.

Candidates will be able to campaign from 9 to 19 December and voting will be held on 22 December. According to the schedule, vote counting will be done on the election day and results will be announced between 22 and 23 December.
